My Fellow Conservatives,
The time to take charge is now. The greatest opportunity for the state of California to lift the burden of big government from our shoulders is upon us. Not since the late Ronald Reagan took the governorship has the tide of public opinion surged so strongly with the Conservative cause and against the liberal elite. But we are not yet prepared for the fight.
To win we must be united. While there are many true Conservative individuals, candidates and organizations in our state, we are not one front. The Conservative movement of California, once a well-oiled machine, is divided and scattered amongst separate groups, single-issue voters and party-line Republicans. My friends, Conservatism is not one issue, one party or one candidate- it is a set of principles based on certain eternal truths and inalienable rights. It is the firm belief in God-given individual liberty, economic freedom, strong defense and adherence to the Constitution. It is the driving force behind the founding of this great country and the glue that binds our many states and peoples together. It is the only sure path to national greatness and, my fellow Conservatives, it has been under sustained attack for nearly half a century- even, and especially, from the seat of our federal government.
The left have chosen their battlefields. They are building the defenses around the government’s takeover of health care and “cap-and-trade” while mustering their forces for attacks on our sovereignty and our industries. To meet the left, there is no doubt we must present a vibrant, strong and united front. That is why I have founded the California Conservative Leadership Network.
We cannot continue to stand on single issues and divided lines. As Ronald Reagan asked at the 1975 Conservative Political Action Conference, “Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors, which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all the issues troubling the people?”
The Conservatives do not need a third party. We must march forward together if we can dream to achieve our goals of future liberty, prosperity and peace. The purpose of the California Leadership Network is not to be just another Conservative group with an executive director and chairman raising money for projects, important issues or candidates- the purpose is to strengthen and unite the efforts of the Conservatives of California, providing support, coordination and promotion among all our true Conservative groups. For surely, in the words of the great Republican President Abraham Lincoln, “United we stand, Divided we fall.”
My fellow Conservative leaders and contributors, the time is now. The left are advancing across this country and in our state. They have consolidated their efforts for many years amongst bickering at home and big-government in Washington. The time for Bold Colors is upon us. Will you rise together with your fellow Patriots? Join us as we bring together the leaders, contributors, candidates, activists and voters to move forward, defeat the progressive agenda and rebuild the Conservative Movement of California.

California Conservative Leadership Network
ReplyDeleteGOALS
1) Consolidating Conservative Efforts- By bringing the myriad of Conservative groups, Republicans and issue-voters together, every organization in CCLN will increase their effectiveness. For veterans groups or anti-death tax lobbyists to have access to the resources and audiences of college and high school activists, and vice-versa, will be a strong step towards more cohesive efforts and broader messaging. CCLN will also enable separate Conservative organizations to streamline membership, thereby minimizing redundancies.
2) Integrate Grass Roots Support for Conservative Candidates and Causes- Through access to an increased and broader number of young and old Conservative activists, CCLN will seek to recruit and support classically Conservative candidates, regardless of party affiliation, in all levels of political office, regardless of the odds against them. CCLN will use activism, fundraising, voter drives, leafleting and the Internet to repeatedly and consistently push Conservative messages forward, in bold colors, to constituents in communities and on campuses that are traditionally difficult to reach and where the true Conservative message is often lost or twisted. Employing these means to educate voters is necessary to Conservative victory in California. To paraphrase the age-old quote, the voters of our state, and our country, do not need to be instructed to be Conservative- they simply need to be reminded why they are Conservative.
3) Drawing Conservative Leaders and Contributors Together- To maximize Conservative influence, CCLN membership is being drawn from California’s most effective Conservative PACs; think tanks; grass roots activist organizations; and Internet, direct-mail, radio and television communications experts and personalities. Member leaders will gather at CRP and CRA conventions, and when other needs arise. CCLN will also hold a modest annual conference, co-sponsored by, and exclusively for, member organizations. Discussions and sharing of experiences, tactics, ideas and personalities of California’s Conservative leadership is instrumental to the victory of Conservative candidates and the defeat of the left.
