My Fellow Conservatives,
The time to take charge is now. The greatest opportunity for the state of California to lift the burden of big government from our shoulders is upon us. Not since the late Ronald Reagan took the governorship has the tide of public opinion surged so strongly with the Conservative cause and against the liberal elite. But we are not yet prepared for the fight.
To win we must be united. While there are many true Conservative individuals, candidates and organizations in our state, we are not one front. The Conservative movement of California, once a well-oiled machine, is divided and scattered amongst separate groups, single-issue voters and party-line Republicans. My friends, Conservatism is not one issue, one party or one candidate- it is a set of principles based on certain eternal truths and inalienable rights. It is the firm belief in God-given individual liberty, economic freedom, strong defense and adherence to the Constitution. It is the driving force behind the founding of this great country and the glue that binds our many states and peoples together. It is the only sure path to national greatness and, my fellow Conservatives, it has been under sustained attack for nearly half a century- even, and especially, from the seat of our federal government.
The left have chosen their battlefields. They are building the defenses around the government’s takeover of health care and “cap-and-trade” while mustering their forces for attacks on our sovereignty and our industries. To meet the left, there is no doubt we must present a vibrant, strong and united front. That is why I have founded the California Conservative Leadership Network.
We cannot continue to stand on single issues and divided lines. As Ronald Reagan asked at the 1975 Conservative Political Action Conference, “Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors, which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all the issues troubling the people?”
The Conservatives do not need a third party. We must march forward together if we can dream to achieve our goals of future liberty, prosperity and peace. The purpose of the California Leadership Network is not to be just another Conservative group with an executive director and chairman raising money for projects, important issues or candidates- the purpose is to strengthen and unite the efforts of the Conservatives of California, providing support, coordination and promotion among all our true Conservative groups. For surely, in the words of the great Republican President Abraham Lincoln, “United we stand, Divided we fall.”
My fellow Conservative leaders and contributors, the time is now. The left are advancing across this country and in our state. They have consolidated their efforts for many years amongst bickering at home and big-government in Washington. The time for Bold Colors is upon us. Will you rise together with your fellow Patriots? Join us as we bring together the leaders, contributors, candidates, activists and voters to move forward, defeat the progressive agenda and rebuild the Conservative Movement of California.
In Freedom,

Fiorina for Senator
As many of you know, in the California June Primary, I supported Chuck DeVore. However, now that the primary is behind us and Carly Fiorina has not waivered in her support of Conservative Principals, I am supporting and voting for Carly Fiorina on November 2. There is no question in my mind that she will have a Conservative Voting Record. I encourage everyone to support her as well. We must defeat and Retire Barbara Boxer, once and for all from California Politics.

A Redefining Moment in Our Nation's History
In about a week we have an opportunity to define the nature of the CA Republican Party, hopefully with conservative candidates like Chuck DeVore. But we are not just in a battle to define the Republican Party but to define the very soul of our nation. Is our country based on a Constitution or as the progressives want, to define truth and morality as the need arises.
The powerful SEIU and AFSCME unions have declared they are putting up 100M toward the reelection of incumbents (Democrats), in November. Add to this the large war chests of the AFL-CIO, the two teachers unions, environmental groups, trial lawyers, etc. Will the Tea Partiers be able to maintain their status as the political leaders of the American people despite attacks from the left, with their vast resources, and the ongoing support of the MSM?
In the very fight of their lives, for if they lose, there is sure to be retribution, they are going to pull out all the stops. From this point on, nothing is sacred. Are we in a country that is to be defined by the huge establishment that has been created to maintain power for the political elites of the left. Let's face it, labor unions served an important purpose at the turn of the last century, but now do little more than serve as a power base for the union bosses. Republicans have thus far been afraid to go after the powerful unions, public employes and teachers.
Hopefully, due to the leftward swing of the government this past year and heavy handed Chicago style politics of the Obama administration, the American people will swing to the right. Despite the inclination of the left in our country, the nation as a whole does not like change, and prefers to maintain the status quo, except when ones livelihood is at risk. With the re-emergence of the Republican Party taking control of the Congress, there has to be a redefining of the power of those elites so that this cannot happen again.

What Do We Stand for?
It is almost that time again where Republicans and Democrats will again be selecting there nominees in the upcoming June 8th Primary. In the Republican Party we see the liberal/Moderate wing of the party with there candidates and those of us who want the Republican Party to continue being the Conservative Party with our Candidates. Then there are Candidates that claim to be Conservative, who have no record in anyway of supporting any Conservative Cause or Candidate, but realize that to win the Party‘s nomination they need the Conservative Vote within the Party to Succeed. Most of those Candidates make themselves sound Conservative, however once they are nominated they go back to there moderate roots for the General Election.
The Critical questions are what kind of Party should the Republican Party be in the future? Why does the Republican Party exist? Why do we oppose the Democrat Party? What do we as Republicans believe in, that makes us the better party of the two major parties in America?
The Republican Party believes in Limited Government, Free Enterprise, Individual Freedom and Responsibility, Strong Defense and Family Values. These Values and principals are what has made America the unique country that it is. We are a Country with a Constitution that guarantees our Freedoms over Tyranny. It is those principals that we need to keep in mind when we vote on June 8.
The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by a coalition of anti-slavery groups. As we did then, when we fought for the Freedom of Slaves, we must continue to fight for the cause of freedom today. The freedom of all Americans to live there lives as they choose, is essential. That includes the right to worship, free to speak out on issues and causes you believe in, the right to work without having to join a Labor Union and the right to pick your own medical care without the government forcing you to go to one of there doctors.
That is why it is important that when Republicans vote in the Tuesday June 8th Primary, that they vote for the Candidate that believes and supports in the right values and principals. In 1992 Democrat James Caville said the election was all about “The economy, stupid.” I believe that our cause is a greater cause. What this election and any election is about is the Survival of Freedom. As Samuel Adams once said "It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

Maybe it is their lack of reading comprehension that led the California Pro-Life Council to endorse Carly Fiorina over Chuck DeVore. DeVore has a strong pro-life record. Fiorina does not.
But they’ve gone too far now with this email:
The conservative leader of Red State web-site has now asked Devore to please consider stepping down in order to stop the splitting of the pro-life vote and giving the nomination to extreme pro-abortion candidate, Campbell.
The California Pro-Life Council is telling people in California I have called for Chuck DeVore to consider stepping down. I’ve done no such thing and on the lies and damn lies category, I’d put it in the damn lies category considering CPLC is a bought and paid for subsidiary of the Fiorina campaign.
As I’ve said repeatedly, I’m standing with Chuck. In fact, in the CNN interview CPLC is touting, I made that clear again and simply said, “Look, if Chuck DeVore hasn’t gone up in the polls within two weeks significantly, I’ll be with Carly Fiorina because Tom Campbell is that bad.” I said that two days ago.
We’ll see what the trends in the race are in two weeks, but if they are consistent I’ll be calling on Fiorina to bail, not Chuck — he’s the only one moving up in the polls.
California Pro-Life Council owes Chuck DeVore and me an apology for lying about what I’ve said to help their own candidate. Personally, I think they need to send a second email to the exact same list saying that, at a minimum, they are in error or, to be more honest, they are totally distorting what I said to help Fiorina.
Shame on them.

Addition To My Previous Blog
So we now have Erick Erickson from Red State telling Chuck DeVore that if he does not go up in the polls, he will be supporting the moderate New Majority candidate Carly Fiorina. Will someone let him know that Chuck DeVore will only be on the California Ballot, not on Mr Erickson, especially since he lives in the state of Georgia. California Conservatives will make up there own minds as to who we choose to support in our own Primary in June.

Where has the Conservative Movement gone in California?
Looking at the California Senate Race, you really have to wonder if there are any true Conservatives left in our state. Yes, there are many organizations and activists that call themselves Conservatives. However, most will say that a Conservative cannot get elected in a statewide race because California is to liberal. In other words they are surrendering the state to moderates in the Republican Party and liberals in the Democrat Party.
If you go to the local level, you will no longer find, in most areas of the state, any grassroots activism as will. Precinct walking has become obsolete in most areas of California because the candidates have been brain washed to believe that the only way to win an election, is by raising a lot of money for direct mail brochures and signs. While I mention signs, I do not mean the ones that are put up in yards, but the ones that are put up by a paid company.
So why is this? Look at the US Senate race in California. The Republican Kingmakers in California and Washington DC have recruited Carly Fiorina as there candidate against Tom Cambell and Conservative Chuck DeVore. For the most part, Carly Fiorina has done a good job of coming across as a Conservative. The question is where are her Conservative Creditionals? The only political thing, I have heard about her being involved with in the past was John McCain’s Presidential campaign in 2008. Frankly, that is not saying much. Secondly she has contradicted herself on different positions she has taken. For example in a recent article a CNN reporter ask her questions about the immigration law in Arizona. He said “Fiorina had to be asked repeatedly whether she supported or opposed the measure.” The Article concluded with “Her questioner finally gave up and changed the subject to offshore oil drilling.” She has also received the endorsement of the New Majority. The New Majority is made up of a membership of moderate and liberal Republicans who claim to represent an “inclusive, mainstream approach toward politics”. There speakers at events they have had, included Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Arnold Schwarzengger, Pete Wilson and Michael Bloomberg. So where does she really stand? Based on what she says and who she spoke to last, it will be very hard to figure out..
Finally, as someone who has been involved in the Conservative Movement since the age of 17, I will support Chuck DeVore, who has a 100% Conservative Voting Record and has the support of the Conservative California Republican Assembly, which has been called the Conscience of the Republican Party. Hopefully Conservatives will not be fooled again as they have been in the past and will realize that if the Conservative Cause is to prevail again in our State, we must start by supporting candidates like Chuck DeVore.

Why I support John Eastman
I thought I would share with you why I believe that John Eastman would make a great California Attorney General. First, let me say that I have known John Eastman since the early eighties. John has been involved in the Conservative Movement for many years and brings with him a great deal of experience and integrity.
To begin with,John who has a Ph.D. in Government, served in the Civil Rights Commission as Director of Public Affairs during President Reagan’s administration in the early 1980’s. He also served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. His specialty as a Faculty member at Chapman University includes Constitutional law, Legal History, and property. Until recently he served as Dean of the Chapman University School of law.
However, besides his academic achievements and experience, John is a solid Conservative. He never has and never will Compromise his beliefs or principals.
As California Attorney General he will work diligently to protect our freedoms and
will also put the rights of citizens and victims over criminals. John is not a professional politician, he is someone who strongly believes in Conservative Values and Principals that our State and Country so desperately need. That is why he received the endorsement of the California Republican Assembly, an organization which is referred to as the Conscience of the Republican Party. In June my vote for California Attorney General will be for John Eastman.

Are Republicans at Risk?
As conservatives are battling with less-than-conservatives for control of the party, the less-thans led by John McCain and Lindsey Graham are supporting liberal legislation like Cap-and-Trade and further immigration reform while talking as if they have always been conservative on all issues. They talk the talk but they don't walk the walk. John McCain now in a vitriolic primary fight might actually come out against immigration reform this time around, in an effort to protect his seat.
But disturbing as all this is, Republicans have been quick to embrace the tea party movement as their own. Maybe a little too quick? The Tea Party movement is fiercely independent, so much so that the leadership is having trying to convince the movement that they should turn into a long term fixture on the political scene. A large part of the TeaParty movement are people who want their government to give them the rights guaranteed by the Constitution but otherwise want to be left alone. Some are turning into highly qualified candidates, who without the TeaParty movement might never have sought public office, and others are becoming effective campaign volunteers. Not since the time of Barry Goldwater when hordes of libertarians stormed the GOP bastions has the Republican Party faced such upheaval. The TeaParty movement's candidate of choice-Sarah Palin. Mitt Romney may have lots of favors built up and the establishment likes a male candidate with his credentials, but the TeaParty movement sees through the political nonsense to the inner person and he is viewed as a run of the mill politician. The California TeaParty Movement overwhelmingly like Chuck DeVore for US Senate although seem a little hesitant to display their enthusiasm publicly, hopefully this will change as the election gets closer.
What is interesting to note is that Republican analysts and long-time political consultants really do not understand the implications of what is happening. They view this primary election as just one of many. What they do not understand is that because of the Marxists in the Obama administration and controlling Congress, the country has taken a violent swing in the other direction. Republicans will be beating Democrats, and conservative Republicans will be beating their less-than-conservative opponents. Democrats see this which is why they are retiring in droves. As further evidence that the Dems see it is the fact that they are now infiltrating local groups and starting TeaParty parties in at least a few states, to pull votes from Republicans. But neither infiltration nor starting phony political parties is a strateegy that seem to be working.
The best thing about Obama is that he is basically an ineffective President, imagine what he could have done by now if he had the political acumen of an LBJ, and that he and his cohorts have destroyed the Democrat party. It will take them years to recover if they ever do. The only states in which they will survive, are in places like California, where the gerrymandered districts will keep them in control for at least a couple more years.

Why Proposition 14 must be defeated
Our California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was elected as a Republican and still is a Registered Republican, has come up with another way to make the California Republican Party obsolete in California. The Governor who really is a Closeted Liberal Kennedy Democrat is supporting and raising money for the passage of Proposition 14. If this initiative passes it would only allow the top two Candidates to participate in the General Election regardless of Party. That means that if a district is heavily democrat and the two top vote getters are democrats, then Republicans like myself would have no one to vote for in the General Election. The Governor feels so strongly in getting this initiative passed, that he has contributed quite a bit of his own money,$500,000, into its passage.
What I find amusing about this is that when Schwarzenegger ran in the recall Davis Campaign, I heard a lot of my Republican friends tell me that he just could not be as bad as Davis and figured he was the better of the two evils. On there first point they were partially correct because he was not as bad as Davis,he was worse then Gray Davis and yes he did turn out to be the evil we were trying to avoid. For your information in that election I voted for the Real Republican Tom McClintock.
Another point to be made is the smaller parties such as the libertarians or Peace and Freedom Parties would have zero chance to be on the general election ballot. While some may disagree with what they stand for, the incredible arrogance of Governor Schwarzenegger shows that he has no sense of fairness.
I intend to vote against the Governor’s Proposition 14 and look forward to seeing his retirement from politics in January 2011. I also hope that in the future, Republicans no long buy the argument of the better of two evils.

Introducing Myself
I have been asked to do something that I said I would never do. That is to be a Blogger. So, since I am going to give it a shot, let me first make a few things clear. I am not William F Buckley Jr. Do not expect big words that you need to look up in a dictionary. Do not expect perfect Grammar. At least with spelling, I can do spell check on my computer.
So why did I decide to do this? First, for those of you who know me, I have an opinion on almost every topic, even if I do not know what I am talking about. Just ask my family, they are all liberal Democrats, while I am a Conservative Republican with a touch of Libertarian. It makes for interesting arguments when I visit them or they visit me. Of course, I still love them all.
Seriously though, I believe that there is a need to rebuild the Conservative Movement across our Nation. Unfortunately, there is Confusion by many as to what it means to be a Conservative. Conservatism is not necessarily a political party. It is a set of principals which have represented the core values of what has kept America free over two hundred years. Unfortunately, with the current Congress and President, those Freedoms are threatened today more then at any time in our history. That is why we must do everything we can to keep the Freedoms we have and restore the ones we have lost.
I knew I became a Conservative at age 17. What influenced me? First there was a conservative by the name of M. Stanton Evans who was a commentator on the CBS Radio Network. I would listen to his Commentaries every chance I got, and realized that what he said was true and made sense to me. Little did I know at the time that I would meet him a couple of years later at a Convention of Young Americans for Freedom. I also learned that he had been at the Founding of the Organization and had written its Statement of Principals call the Sharon Statement.
I was also influenced by two books written in the late seventies that I read. The first was “A Time For Truth” by William E. Simon, a former Secretary of the Treasury and “Restoring the American Dream” by Robert J. Ringer. In both books both Authors felt that the growth of government was threatening our Freedoms.
So that is why I decided to proceed to write a blog. President Reagan said it best when he said "The house we hope to build is not for my generation but for yours. It is your future that matters. And I hope that when you are my age, you will be able to say as I have been able to say: We lived in freedom. We lived lives that were a statement, not an apology."

McCain Stumps for Fiorina while DeVore gears up Campaign
John McCain, who is in a tough primary battle in his native Arizona, swings quickly through California making a campaign pitch for Carly Fiorina. Isn’t it bad enough that Fiorina is trying to present herself as a conservative in the Golden State, the home or Ronald Reagan, but to have her pitchman, the poster boy for the ‘old boy’ Republicans, raising money for her in our state is deplorable. The real conservative in this race, Chuck DeVore, is busily getting his statewide campaign team in motion to get all the wheels turning before the June Primary.
During McCain’s Presidential bid, he started off with a good solid economic team, people like Phil Gramm and Dick Armey, and quickly replace them with opportunist Fiorina, shortly after she had been ousted as Chairman of HP, by the Packard family. Not much of an endorsement for a top economic job if you ask me. McCain showed during the campaign he has a definite lack of knowledge on economic issues, hurrying home in the middle of the campaign to vote for the stimulus package (otherwise known as the Democrat political payoff), and then for his supreme lack of judgment in his economic team.
Now as a political payoff, he is stumping for Fiorina, trying to bring his ‘old boy’ form of Republicanism to California. We will have none of that here! McCain is in the primary fight of his life as conservatives still blame him for Obama, and former Congressman J.D. Hayworth may be able to defeat him in the primary, despite the Dems best efforts to mount an ineffective ‘TeaParty’ party attack to siphon off Repub votes. J.D. Hayworth is viewed as the lessor of two evils, since he is known for his liberal use of earmarks.

Enough is Enough
Conservatives are tired of settling for someone who votes with us only 50% of the time, and sometimes even less as in the case of Olympia Snowe, or locally like Mary Bono Mack. The establishment in the Republican Party often forces candidates down our throats that are barely acceptable and we are asked to hold our noses and vote for them (John McCain). Unfortunately at this time, McCain is the party leader, since he was our most recent Presidential nominee and he is raising money for and supporting establishment candidates in many races. To support his candidates and for another possible Presidential bid, McCain has been talking like a conservative on many issues. Fortunately, conservative J.D. Hayworth is challenging McCain for his Arizona Senate seat. Thus far, McCain does not seem too worried, but in this election year, as Democrats fall to Republicans, and Republicans fall to conservative Republicans, he should be taking notice. As momentum builds and grassroots conservatives get involved McCain should be in big trouble. Sarah Palin, still showing campaign solidarity and gratitude in being name VEEP, is supporting McCain. Palin supporters are being understanding and not chastising her for this.
In California this year we have a unique opportunity, our candidates for the US Senate are the incumbent, a liberal Democrat, an Establishment Republicanand former member of the McCain campaign team, a liberal Republican, and a conservative, Chuck DeVore. The choice is clear, and despite his opponents being much better financed, DeVore is gaining momentum. In the race for Governor we are not so fortunate, we have liberal Jerry Brown, liberal Republican Meg Whitman, and maybe conservative Steve Poizner. Meg Whitman has been spending money early and gained lots of valuable name recognition.
In today's American Thinker, Gene Schwimmer's article Powerless Against Palin describes Palin fever and how the Dems are scared to death. The future POTUS has been handling her celebrity well. brushing up on world affairs, and becoming more of a polished speaker – crib notes aside, and I don't think we want her to be too polished, she would like some of her everyman gravitas. I haven't seen her on FOX enough times to make a judgement, except on O'Riley the other night and he was taking it easy on her. I still am disappointed that she is not taking advantage of her fan base and utilizing it to its full advantage in this election year. Even Team Sarah, seems to be evolving from social networking to campaigning, probably too late to make a difference and without support from Sarah I honestly don't know how far that can go. The Tea Party's don't seem to want to merge into the Republican Party, but if they want to become more active politically that is the only way to go. Remaining separate might seem the way to go to maintain credibility, but in order to keep the half conservative Republicans on the sidelines that is the only way to go.
More from Sarah this political season as she gears up for her Presidential run. Who will she be running against? Romney, who will probably be the establishment candidate, Pawlenty? Jeb Bush? Ron Paul, get real.

Healthcare Hijinx
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi were unable to force a healthcare bill down the throats of the American people. Now President Obama is getting into the act, preaching bipartisanship, while secretly cobbling together the Democraft House and Senate versions of healthcare reform into one monstrosity. Progressives are willing to destroy the current state of our healthcare - while exempting themselves from coverage and possibly destroy their own party, all in the name of universal coverage. This is the legacy they want to leave behind.
The American people do not want to nationalize 1/6 of the economy and downgrade our current level of healthcare. The healthcare in this country is more expensive than anywhere else, it is also better than anywhere else. Michael Moore's recent rantings about the success of Cuban healthcare should highly demonstrate the madness of the progressives.
Republicans in Congress should boycott the healthcare summit. Let it end up as an entirely Democrat plan, and if they can pass it, they have to fully accept the blame. Are Mitch McConnell and John Boehner the right men to trick Obama and Congressional Democrats in the summit? We better hope so.

Sarah visits the Tea Party Convention
Palin gave a rather stunning speech this weekend at the Tea Party Convention in Tennessee. She apparently is having regular analysis on world events sent to her so that she can be more accurate in her response to the issues and of course the left is critical of this, but she is starting to sound serious. For the first time she has indicated a possible Presidential run in 2012, and with her fire and intelligence could easily pick up support beyond her Palinista base.
The forty some minute speech was followed by a few minutes of Q&A. Tea Party politics aside, the people there got their moneys worth. Thanks to C-Span for covering it and to Chris Wallace for being there for Fox News Sunday. The Tea Party movement may or may not turn into a serious political threat, but Sarah Plain is definitely here to stay and is really turning into the viable candidate we knew she was, no wonder the left hates her so much.

We Were Just Hoping For So Much More
I asked my wife last night what she thought about Sarah Palin going to Fox News, and her response was "I guess that means she is not going to run for President." Which is quite the way I have taken this. She had promised to campaign hard for conservative candidates this year. Palinistas have been counting on a possible Presidental bid in 2012. Now it looks like neither of these things will happen, although they are not mutually exclusive. Palin appears to be focusing on a career akin to Glenn Beck or Mike Gallagher, appearing occasionally on Fox News, promoting the books they have written. I guess the next thing will be her own nationally syndicated radio show.
An alternate suggestion, raise money and campaign hard for conservative candidates this year, creating a volunteer army in the process. Use the intervening two years to campaign with the chits you have built up from candidates you have supported, and a small army of devoted volunteers. You are never going to convert the people who do not like you, they don't watch Fox news.

Is Palin Losing Her Mo?
Sarah Palin could be losing some of her luster as a tiff with the ACU's David Keene, an 'old guard stalwart', has kept her from attending this year's CPAC Convention. Palin also promised to campaign hard for conservatives in the mid-term elections, but seems to be focusing on attending high profile conferences, rather than build up her chits with those running for Senate or Congress. Massachusetts Senatorial candidate Scott Brown could really use a push from her as he is a few points behind and the election is coming up quickly. If elected to fill the seat, created with the death of Senator Edward Kennedy, Brown could break the filibuster proof hold the Democrat party has on the Senate. By taking a breather, or as Palinistas would have it 'reloading' Palin may be losing some of the momentum she garnered with her book tour.
Speculation abounds regarding Palins plans for a 2012 Presidential run, particularly as Obama continues to slide in the polls, and the electorate continues its rightward move. One political scientist has even gone so far as to suggest that Haley Barbour may be the perfect running mate for Palin. That is a bit of a stretch at this point in time, although there is no doubt that Palin has her eye on a Presidential run.

Sarah Palin 'Dissing' Establishment Conservatives
When the word was out that Sarah Palin would not be attending CPAC, but would be going to the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. Palin supporters defended the action as 'standing up for her beliefs'. Whether it is a personal beef with ACU Chairman David Keene, the fact that the John Birch Society is also a sponsor, or beliefs, still remain unclear.Several of the popular Palin blogs including texas4palin, conservatives4palin, and palintwibe are backing their champion against the old guard conservatives.
As she did in Alaska, Palin is shaking up the extablishment, granted some of the practices used in CPAC, having organizations that sponsor provide presenters, may not be the best practice. But this is a bad practice, piting the conservative old guard against the newly engaged 'TeaParty' conservatives. Palin's lack of support with the old guard can be summed up in the National Journal Political Insiders Poll, with Romney coming out with 29% and Palin getting trounced with only 3%.
Palin's frustration with the old guard keep be the real reason she will not be attending CPAC, which is one of the most important events of the year for the old guard. But, as detailed here in previous entries, the 'new guard' is still very unfocused and not really providing any movement inertia.
As a member of old style conservatives who is also a Palinista, I say she better mend this riff quickly. The conservatives being energized to action by the Obama administration, are yet to prove themselves in long-term staying power, and Palin has yet to step up to the plate, and start a coordinated movement to give them a place at the table.
I hope she does, Sarah could be the new Reagan is she is inclusive, but she cannot possibly hope to win if she divides conservatives, considering the growing schism between the GOP and conservatives, further fracturing this base could be damaging beyond belief.

Is Sarah in Danger of Fading Away?
Is it possible that all of the frustration experienced by conservatives recently, frustration that has translated into Tea Parties, protests, and political unrest, will not translate into political action? Glenn Beck whipped his 9/12 supporters into a frenzy and then proclaimed that it called for a new book, detailing a 100 year plan, that would be published next August. Tea Parties, are by their nature, local and spontaneous, characteristics that do not help get candidates elected.
Liberals tend to be focused on a specific issue, but when other liberals need support they all jump on the bandwagon, joining groups, umbrella groups, and protests. Conservatives, by their nature, tend to go their own way, prefer independence, and like to run their own show.
Now is the precise time in our history, when hundreds of thousands of conservative activists need focus and direction. Will Sarah Palin become the nexus of this rebellion and lead her supporters in conservative rebellion? Or will the lack of direction and focus doom the movement to failure?
The Tea Party groups, the 9/12 groups, and others, are encouraging people to organize into group by state, county, and congressional district, but not told what to do when they get there. Certainly some people will become candidates and some activists, but unless someone steps up to lead the movement, it may dissipate.
Sarah must sieze the opportunity now and step up to lead the movement, if she does not, she too may fade away.

On The Culture
By nature, I am a cultural observer. I analyze trends to see what makes sense and what doesn't and what is simply a fad. Certain facts are consistent with human nature, the pareto distribution, the 2nd law of thermodynamics, and Drucker's theory of power.
Culture does not always move in one direction, but is like a giant pendulum that swings back and forth, the farther in one direction, it returns as far back in the other direction. I have this memory of one of my college professors talking about how during the French revolution, the pendulum swung back in the opposite direction and caused Robespierre and his compatriots to be guillotined.
The American left, who have dominated American culture for the last 50 years, have brought us farther and farther to the edge, what was once abhorrent is now commonplace. It is not unusual to watch awards shows on television with the attendees spewing off foul words, exposing most of themselves, and now committing lude, homosexual acts, or 'pushing the envelope' as they like to call it. I recently watched the country music awards, one recipient thanked her parents, God, and some others, I was stunned.
Something miraculous happened towards the end of last year. Did you feel it? I don't know the exact moment when it occurred, or why it occurred, but the pendulum traveled to the end of its journey and started back in the other direction. Was it Sarah Palin? Was it Carrie Prejean? Was it the Jonas Brothers, or Jordan Sparks? Was it the sheer dominance of the left?
For some reason the culture is now headed back in the other direction, and Sarah Palin is leading the charge, in culture and in politics. Is she responsible? It doesn't really matter actually, as long as it is happening and we have great leaders, like Sarah Palin, to trailblaze.

Sarah Palin: Right on Terrorism
Sarah Palin's recent Facebook entry on terrorism resonates with the American people. Liberals (including Congress and the Obama administration) feel compelled to sympathize with those who are out to destroy our nation, maybe because they have similar goals. Treating terrorists as common criminals is disastrous, and Sarah Palin responds rightly with force to this incident.
She is never going to be liked by those on the left who are afraid of her, but for those on the right who have no clear voice right now in national politics she is a breath of fresh air. She understands how we feel, we won't allow ourselves to be hostage by islamist extremists. The liberal loonies on the left seem to think if we become buddies with them they will stop bothering us. Imagine that!
Palin encourages a get tough stance toward islamic terrorists. One that we the people relate to. It is good for a national leader to stand up on this issue. Why is it that she is the only one with huevos in our national leadership?

Where is Sarah Now?
I have read many blog posts and articles the last few days expressing concern that we have not heard anything from Sarah Palin in a few weeks. The last post on her Facebook blog was for Christmas and there have been some significant events since then that require comment, but none has come.
Let's put this in perspective. In November there were rumors that Palin would be start her own political organization, to be called 'Stand Up For Our Nation'. She is doing one of two things: either she is planning on becoming more reclusive, or: she is reloading. My guess is that her reappearance is imminent, with both barrels loaded.
Sarah Palin is one smart lady and she knows that she has hundreds of thousands of fans who are waiting for some direction and in order to have some influence on the outcome of midterm elections she has to act quickly and decisively, with money, endorsements, and volunteers. All of this takes some preparation, even in Palin's case.
So don't become frustrated if your favorite conservative candidate lacks a Palin endorsement or help from the legion of volunteers, this is forthcoming.
