Is it possible that all of the frustration experienced by conservatives recently, frustration that has translated into Tea Parties, protests, and political unrest, will not translate into political action? Glenn Beck whipped his 9/12 supporters into a frenzy and then proclaimed that it called for a new book, detailing a 100 year plan, that would be published next August. Tea Parties, are by their nature, local and spontaneous, characteristics that do not help get candidates elected.
Liberals tend to be focused on a specific issue, but when other liberals need support they all jump on the bandwagon, joining groups, umbrella groups, and protests. Conservatives, by their nature, tend to go their own way, prefer independence, and like to run their own show.
Now is the precise time in our history, when hundreds of thousands of conservative activists need focus and direction. Will Sarah Palin become the nexus of this rebellion and lead her supporters in conservative rebellion? Or will the lack of direction and focus doom the movement to failure?
The Tea Party groups, the 9/12 groups, and others, are encouraging people to organize into group by state, county, and congressional district, but not told what to do when they get there. Certainly some people will become candidates and some activists, but unless someone steps up to lead the movement, it may dissipate.
Sarah must sieze the opportunity now and step up to lead the movement, if she does not, she too may fade away.
